Banks are the lifeline of any country. Ever since the economic reforms of 1991, banking has become one of the hottest career options in India. The reforms saw the entry of several private sector banks in the market, which led to more employment opportunities, and better pay packages. The number of vacancies are on the rise and almost every year more than 50000 vacancies are up for grabs.

Public sector banks today offer lucrative as well as stable career opportunities, especially for people who want a job in the government sector. The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is a premier Institute set up by the RBI & Public Sector Banks to cater to its selection needs - recruitment, placement and promotion; and has been assessing talent for the past twenty - six years. Though SBI & its associate banks conduct their own recruitment exam.

IBPS in the year 2011-12 recorded a yet another remarkable achievement of registering more than 14 million candidates appearing for various selection processes and tested 9.7 million candidates. The data clearly indicates banking sector as the obvious choice of the entire middle-class educated segment.
